Immunizations are Important. The veterinarian will have a complete list of immunizations your puppy needs. Some of these immunizations require multiple shots in a series. The most affordable option is a well care plan for puppies.

Sterilization prolongs life. If a dog is spayed or neutered, they have less of a chance of getting certain forms of cancer. This means a longer life span for the dog and fewer health problems.

Food is not about variety. Puppies need to be started on one food and kept on that food. Adding variety to a puppy’s diet is a recipe for diarrhea and vomiting.

Hard food is best. The hard food choices are the best for puppies because they clean the teeth every time the puppy feeds. The soft foods are the ones that get stuck in the teeth and can cause dental problems later on.

Hydration is important. A dog will drink water every time they are thirsty. Unlike humans, they cannot go to the fridge and get out a soda to drink. The water bowl should be kept full at all times and changed after each feeding.

Feed up to four times a day. Puppies are growing and growing fast. They need to be fed up to four times every day. This does not mean the puppy food can be left out all day with doggy grazing by once in a while. Meal times should be the same time every day with measured portions.

Pee and poo will happen. At first, the puppy will not understand that going to the bathroom is an outside only event. The puppy can be scolded for using the bathroom indoors if they are caught in the act. If the puppy is not caught, scolding them for the action after the fact will only cause bonding issues as the puppy will not know why the owner is scolding.

Crate training is hard. Most puppy owners come out of the store with a crate in hand, ready to crate train their dogs. Crate training works with the puppy’s natural instinct to not go to the bathroom where they sleep. If the training is kept up, the puppy will soon learn that the leash is the only place it is appropriate to use the bathroom.

Traveling should be safe. Just like kids are locked into car seats when they are little, puppies should be kept secure in a moving vehicle at all times. The puppy may need to have a carrier placed on the seat in order to see out the window. If they cannot see, there is a better chance the puppy will get motion sickness.

Be patient but firm. The puppy needs to know the owner is the boss. This means being patient with puppy during training, but also being firm about who is in control. There is no use yelling and being loud, as it will only scare the puppy.

You have planned for the last year to throw the best wedding of your life and the day has finally come. On that fateful day - you will be the center of attention and the world will blur around you. Make sure to have everything you need packed before you find out you don't have the essentials.

The Dress - This one is a given but there are people who entrust the dress delivery to someone else and find they are waiting around for the dress to arrive.

The Shoes - The bride should have two pairs of the same shoes. This will ensure a spare if one were to break.

The Tuxedos - Husbands forget and so do fiances. Make sure to check the pick up day several times and remind him to pick up the tuxes as soon as he can.

The Emergency Bags - Both the bride and the groom need to have an emergency bag ready for getting ready and keeping things perfect. The bride needs to have makeup, extra hose, a snack, a drink, gum, tylenol and other essentials. The groom needs most of the same things, but also extra cuff links and black socks.

The Personals - Ladies never want their menstrual cycle to start on wedding day, but sometimes it is just this that happens. Make sure to pack the personals just in case.

Stay Tuned for the second part of this article - things get fancier from here!

Saving money is all over the news these days: companies are downsizing to do it; consumers are delaying purchases to do it; the government is pumping out money to get us all to quit doing it… Confusing, right? But in a difficult economy, we’re all looking for ways to right-size our lifestyles without totally giving up on the “style” part. So, here are ten things to do to have fun and build memories with your kids, even if you’re on a really tight budget.

1. Go to the Library

Even in the Age of the Internet, the library is still a great place… and it’s free! Read books, check out movies, surf the Web, you name it. And many public libraries have special summer programs, complete with live theater, dance, readings, and other special presentations.

2. Go to the Park

Sometimes, you’ve just got to turn off the Wii or the X Box and go outside to play! Most communities have parks with play equipment, but even if your neighborhood only sports vacant lots within easy walking distance, it’s still a great place to stretch those limbs and air out the lungs.

3. Tell Stories

Even the most sophisticated youngsters like to hear stories, especially if they’re family stories. If you’re blessed with grandparents nearby, harvest their memories and share them with your kids. Every body wins!

4. Fly a Kite

Just like the song says, “Let’s go fly a kite.” Kites can be had very inexpensively, and all you need after that is some wind. There’s something about watching a kite in the sky that sort of liberates the kid in all of us. (In this connection, also see #2, above)

5. Read Together

Whether it’s in the reading room at the local library, or snuggled up on a couch at home, kids love to be read to, even if they’re already readers themselves. Take some time to get together over a favorite book… you’ll be glad you did!

6. Explore Your Neighborhood

It’s amazing what you can see when you actually look. Take a walk around the block; spot out-of-state license plates, find the letters of the alphabet on signs, see how many different types of birds you can spot… the possibilities are almost endless!

7. Play Games

Whether you’re into Boggle, Scrabble, Monopoly, chess, or hearts, kids will love playing games with you. In fact, it’s kind of amazing the conversations you can have during a hard fought round of Pictionary or Cranium.

8. Watch TV

Okay, here’s one you might not have expected. But instead of using TV as couch potato time, actively watch TV with your kids after carefully selecting a show of educational, historical, or other special interest. Discuss themes, characters, plot, and setting. TV really can be educational, if you make it that way.

9. Draw

You can use pencil and paper, pastels, finger paint, water colors, or sidewalk chalk: the medium is up to you. But no matter what materials you settle on, your kids will love creating together with you.

10. Volunteer

Is there a homeless shelter, a nursing home, a food bank, or other community outreach organization that could use your help? Take your kids with you! You’ll lay the groundwork for a lifetime of community involvement and good citizenship.
