The year is shaping up to be a hot one and with spring right around the corner, a new do is something that is essential. Who can hit spring break with that old haircut grown out from the first days of school? Here are the Top 10 Hairstyles for Teen Boys and Girls.

Teen boys have the right idea in 2009. They are sticking with what they know and what works for their face and style. The 5 best hairstyles for teen boys are:

Faux Hawk - The cut makes the hair look like it is in a Mohawk but with a bit less sharpness. Good for both girls and boys in my opinion.

Mohawk - Go big or go home, right? The Mohawk has been around for years and it’s not just for bikers anymore.

Surfer Tossle - Short cut with a bit of wax thrown in for good measure. Think bed head on crack.

Bald Head Fade - This hairstyle is one of the timeless choices for 2009. The hair is bald at the neckline and slowly fades up to a 1/4 inch or less cut on top. Classy!

Jonas Brother - With curls!

Teen girls are a bit harder to please in 2009. The Top 10 Hairstyles for Teen Boys and Girls would not be complete without a tease, spray and hold!

Pixie or Fairie - The pixie cut is a surfer cut for girls. The same styling applies. Just get out of the shower, towel dry and apply a bit of gel or mousse. Tossle as needed.

Bob - No, not Evans! This look has seen its fair share of change over the years. The bob today is all about sharp lines and constant upkeep. For the teenage girl, this cut is short lived as the care it takes to keep that edgy look is more difficult than many people think.

Layered Long - The long layers are sticking around from last year. Just a few cuts here and there and the long style will frame the face. Perfect!

Layered Short - With so many teen girls growing out those bobs, the shorter look can be turned into a fresh look with a few layers. Again, keep them subtle and just frame the face.

Au Natural - Every year, from 1960 whatever until 2009, the long au natural look is forever in style. Teen girls can rest assured that their long hair will never be out of fashion.

Being a teen is hard enough without having an overplayed do. This year, take a chance and tempt fate with one of these Top 10 Hairstyles for Teen Boys and Girls.
